Inspirational Quotes of the Week #10

Hi guys!
So I have another Inspirational Quotes of the Week post for you guys! It is really feeling like spring now, so I have some springtime quotes for you today! Let's get started :D

This is something that I've been trying to do more often especially since I've been super busy lately with studying for AP Finals in a month (ahhh!), homework, drivers ed, blogging... But really, blogging is my release so I love doing it (although I wish I could do it more often!) and I've also been trying to do at least 10 minutes of yoga a day!

Life is too short to be anything but happy! I will totally do a post on how I try to stay happy, so definitely check back soon for that, but I think that this time of the year, everyone gets a whole lot happier! Maybe it's because of the sun!

It's spring! This means warmer weather, sun, and fun! Make sure to try and get out of the house as much as possible and soak up that vitamin D!

So those are some of my favorite quotes this week! Let me know what your favorite quote is in the comments and don't forget to follow this blog for more posts!

Yet Another Injury Update (for all you curious people)

Hi guys!
So I know that this post isn't going to appeal to most of my readers, so if you don't want to read it I totally get it! Since maybe september 2013, I've been tracking my shoulder injury and just doing periodic updates on it on this blog! I think it's really helped me get out my frustration and stay sane during this whole ordeal. I've recently met with my surgeon and I now have a better understanding of what's wrong with me and all that so I thought I'd share because I know some of you guys are curious!

Well just to recap, I dislocated my shoulder really badly during cheerleading when I did a back handspring. I rehabed it, but it sublaxed (partially popped out) again and after that I had shoulder instability (when it moves around in unnatural ways). I took a lot of x-rays and a MRI and my orthopedic doctor told me that I tore my labrum, which is the cartilage in my shoulder. I didn't know how serious this injury was until I met with my surgeon and he said that while most people have one or two tears at the most, I tore pretty much the entire thing. It was really scary though because my surgeon said that he doesn't know how bad it's torn and he won't know how much to fix until he actually cuts me open. It's not like a urgent surgery, so I scheduled it for June 4 because it's after my finals and all that! The surgery is supposed to take anywhere between 1.5-6 hours depending on how much he needs to fix, which is a really huge range! My surgeon isn't the most reassuring guy because he said "we're doing your surgery at surgicare, so you don't have the bacteria of a hospital, but if you go into cardiac arrest, you're not going to be in a hospital," which totally freaked my parents out!

After the surgery I'm going to be in a sling for a month, but it'll take me 6-12 months to be 100% better. I'm also getting a lot of painkillers after the surgery and they're giving me a nerve block, so I'm kind of freaked out to see my arm like a limp noodle after surgery! Also, the surgery I'm getting is arthroscopic so it is done through incisions with a camera!

I don't mean to do these posts in a "poor me" type of way because I am honestly really fine with the way I am now and it's just a little annoying if anything! Let me know in the comments if you've ever had shoulder surgery because I am trying to do my research and find out how other people's surgeries have gone to try and calm my nerves! If you've made it this far, thank you so much because I know this post is so crazy and long!

Are Plus Sized Models Unhealthy? My thoughts and opinions

Hi guys!
So before I start this post I want to say that I think that all people are beautiful and that it is 110% what's inside that counts, but if you feel that you're going to be offended (even thought that's not my intention) please leave now! Okay so now that that's out of the way, I've been watching lots of health videos on youtube recently and I saw one by Freelee that I thought was interesting. She pretty much said that plus sized models were unhealthy and promoted a distorted body image. I thought this was really interesting so I want to share my thoughts on it now!

I really, personally, like plus sized models because they show people what real women look like. Similarly to the Aerie campaign, they show the reality of our society, although this may not be ideal. I do understand both sides of the argument, though. Plus sized models have the ability to "normalize" heavier weights and make obesity an even larger problem than it already is in America, but at the same time, I want all women to feel great and I think that plus sized models have the ability to do that as well. I guess where I stand is that there has to be a limit. Just as we are making a conscious effort to stop using anorexic/bulimic models, we should make an effort not to use obese models either because they represent the extremes that no one should ever strive to look like. I think that curvy girls, on the other hand, are fine because that's what the majority of the people in America resemble!

So those were my thoughts on plus sized models! Let me know what yours are in the comments and please don't leave any hate down below because these are my opinions and I know that some will disagree with me!

My Favorite Songs: Spanish Edition!

Hey guys! Or should I say Hola!
Today is going to be a different sort of favorites post because it is going to focus on my favorite songs that are sung in spanish! I totally get that a lot, maybe even the majority of you all that are reading this post don't speak or understand spanish, but these songs are so fabulous that I needed to share them with you! So here we go!

VolvĂ A Nacer - Carlos Vives
I think someone in my spanish class did a presentation on this song and I totally fell in love with it! It is so catchy and amazing! I have been listening to it on repeat for probably the last hour or so. It's just that good!

Danza Kuduro - Don Omar
This is a song that has been in a previous favorite songs post, but it was worth mentioning again! Also, this song isn't technically in spanish (it's portuguese) but it's still close! Plus this song is so fun to dance to!

Taboo - Don Omar
Going along with another Don Omar song, this one is different from the last one, but is still great! I personally like Danza Kuduro a little better, but this one is still really good!

La Luz - Juanes
If you use spotify, you've probably heard the commercials for this song a couple months ago. I didn't think anything of it, but when I listened to it, it was surprisingly good! A little inappropriate, but good!

So those are my favorite spanish songs! If you have any that I need to check out, let me know in the comments!

How's Lent Going?

Hi guys!
So I have been giving up red meat for lent (basically pork and beef) and it has been ridiculously hard! I've been tweeting about this so much because it has been really hard for me especially when I have to "fend for myself" when the rest of the family has been eating red meat. I kind of wanted to know how lent is going for you guys! I really want to know what you guys are giving up or even if you're giving anything up because a lot of my friends and family aren't giving anything up this year. I think that lent is a great time for reflection and I have been so motivated to work on my health and fitness now that I've given up red meat. I'll probably do another post soon on my shoulder injury update (hint: it gets worse) and I'll do another post on my newest fitness and diet loves!
So this was kind of a random post, but I really want to know what's going on with you all! Also, check out my facebook page because it has a sad 3 likes right now!
