A Day in My Life

Hi guys!
It's been a while since I've done one of these posts, so I thought I'd do one today!

I woke up and made myself an Acai Bowl for breakfast. This one had some granola, banana, and honey on it! A recipe will be going up soon for my Stylish Summer Challenge! To read more about the challenge, and register, click here!

Then I spent a little bit trying on different hairstyles with my prom dress because prom is next saturday!

For lunch, I went to one of my favorite places in Downtown Honolulu, Marukame Udon. If you ever get the chance to go, definitely get the curry udon because it's my favorite thing ever!

Later, I got a milk tea from Panda! I usually get oolong milk tea, half sweetened, with small boba!

For dinner, we just ordered some japanese food and I spent the rest of the night working on the Stylish Summer challenge and editing some videos!

Which brings me to a little announcement! If you read my other blog, you'll know that I'm running an 8 week challenge from 4/26-6/21, but if you didn't I'll give you the scoop! It's called the Stylish Summer Challenge and it's 100% free! To sign up, use the form below! I'll have daily challenges for you ranging from workouts to food to beauty and fashion! I'll also be doing LOTS of giveaways throughout the challenge too! So sign up to register!

Insurgent Review

Hi guys!
So, Insurgent came out today, and I went with my mom to see it. For all of you who don't know, Insurgent picks up right where Divergent left off with Tris, Four, Peter, Caleb, and Marcus fleeing Dauntless. I'm going to try and keep this spoiler free and just share my opinions on the movie rather than giving away plot points. With that being said, this whole post will give spoilers on DIVERGENT, so if you haven't seen the first movie, you might not want to continue further.

I think that this movie was great because it allowed for further development of the characters. Shailene Woodley is a great actress in the sense that she can portray emotions and vulnerability well. In Divergent, Tris has to see both of her parents die for her and she kills Will to protect herself. The guilt that she feels from this is super evident throughout the movie. With that being said, I think that a lot of the character development seen in the book isn't necessarily present in the movie as well. This is especially true for some of the smaller characters such as Eric.

This movie has a bit less action compared to Divergent, but the action that it does have is intense and meaningful to the plot. There is a lot of dream sequence and virtual realities in this movie, which once again helps us get into Tris' head and see the reasoning behind her actions, but also makes for some confusing and boring portions of the movie.

Although I throughly enjoyed the movie, it was sad seeing some characters that had large and meaningful parts in the first movie and book reduced to background characters. Just a heads up, this includes Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, and Ray Stevenson. Also, if you were looking forward to seeing Uriah on the screen, you might be a bit disappointed as he doesn't get much screen time as well.

Overall, I really liked this movie. For me, personally, I like the Divergent books and movies a lot more than I liked the Hunger Games. If you haven't read the book or at least seen the first movie, I'm not confident that you'll like this because it digs deeper into the characters and works off of the themes of the first movie. For the rest of us, I think that this was a pretty faithful adaptation of the book (as faithful as a 2 hour movie can be) and that it will be satisfying to watch.

Have you seen Insurgent? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

My Favorite EDM Songs

Hey guys!
So tonight, I was listening to the Calvin Harris station on Pandora, while I was doing my Physics homework and all of my favorite songs were playing. I decided to take a little break from all the physics fun and do a post on my favorite EDM songs!

Midnight City - M83
This is the song that's currently playing as I'm writing this post, and I'm in love. I never get bored of this song, and it always makes me super happy when I hear it!

Outside - Calvin Harris
I literally love every song that Calvin Harris does, but this is his newest one, and I'm obsessed with it! I've literally listened to it probably 20 times today!

Blame - Calvin Harris
Like I said, pretty much every Calvin Harris song ever could be on this list, but this is the other one that I've been especially into lately! If you're wondering about the others I've been loving I'd go with Feel So Close, Thinking About You, and Pray to God.

Wasted - Tiesto
LOVE THIS SONG! It's super catchy and another song that I never get bored of!

Prayer in C - Robin Schultz
Great song, and a really sick music video!

If I Lose Myself - Alesso
I love One Republic, as many of you know, and this remix of If I Lose Myself is really great! I love how it takes a great song and makes it a little more upbeat!

So, to be honest, this post could be a lot longer, but I refrained myself! I also really like Avicii (You Make Me is great), David Guetta (Play Hard and Titanium are my favs), and Zedd (find you). Let me know what your favorite songs are in the comments, and let me know what type of music you like to listen to whilst doing homework (if you're a student)!

Prioritization

Hey guys!
It's not super late right now, which is kind of surprising because I'm really exhausted! But, I wanted to get this post written for you because prioritization is something that I've been pondering a lot recently.

The sad fact of life is that there is never enough hours in a day for us to accomplish what we want to. That's where prioritization comes in. We put what we value most on the top of our to-do list, and leave whatever remains until the next day. Is this system perfect? Not quite, but it's the best that we can do. Lately, I've been trying to think about what I prioritize and I've been trying to prioritize based on what is important to me rather than what society or others tell me to prioritize.

For me, the things that I put on the top of the list are the things that make me happy. That's blogging and making videos. Exercising, eating, spending time with family and friends, sleeping. Some of these things are actually important (like exercising for my health), but other things are small things that I just really like. Before, I would put schoolwork and homework really high on my list and I would stay up late trying to finish it all, but now I really try to evaluate everything and make decisions based on what I want. For example, if I'm really tired and I have a bit of homework left, I'll go to sleep rather than staying up (which is something that I wouldn't have done a few months ago).

Societal pressures and the internal pressures we feel to do our best sometimes negatively impact the quality of our lives, so I want to challenge you to evaluate your life. Figure out what you truly want to place on the top of your list and compare that to your current list right now, and make changes! I understand that it's hard to feel like you're disappointing others or not trying hard enough, but if you spend time doing things that you personally value, you will feel so much better every single day. Let me know your thoughts on this post in the comments below and let me know what you guys put on the top of your list!

PORTLAND!

Hey everyone!
I was in Portland, Oregon last weekend, and I meant to film a lot so I could do a vlog! I didn't. I got a tinyyyy bit of footage and a few pictures, however, so I used them in this video! Hope you enjoy it!

Let me know in the comments if you've ever been to Portland and what I should do if I go back there! Also, don't forget to subscribe to this channel and give this video a thumbs up if you liked this video!

Where Have I Been?

Hey guys!
I have a video for you today! I know what you're thinking... "a video? what!?!" because it's been over two months since my last video on my vlog channel, which is absolutely crazy and way too long! So if you want to know what I've been up to lately, watch this video!

So, if you like this video, please give it a thumbs up! And don't forget to check out my beauty youtube channel because I post a lot more frequently on that channel and I have a ton of really awesome videos up! I do have a tinyyyy bit of footage for a Portland vlog, but I really don't have enough for a full video (maybe 2 minutes worth of footage at most), so maybe I'll do a travel video on my main channel and stick the footage at the end? Or I could do a video of me talking about my trip and overlay some of the footage on that... Let me know if you have thoughts on how I should do it in the comments!

Music Favorites: January 2015

Hey everyone!
I thought that I'd change the titles of my music favorites to represent the month that I'm loving them! That way, you won't get confused by the tons of "music favorites" posts! Okay, so these are my favorites for January 2015!

Prayer in C - Robin Schulz Remix
Love this song so much! I've probably listened to it around 20 times already today, and I don't plan on stopping! This version is so awesome, and I love it more than the original!

Uptown Funk - Ronson and Bruno Mars
This song has actually grown on me quite a bit. When it was first played, I wasn't a huge fan, but I think that it's super catchy and I'm loving it!

Milky Chance - Flashed Junk Mind
Love Milky Chance! This song is really chill and is something that just relaxes me! Definitely listen to this if you haven't heard it already!

Alesso ft. Tove Lo - Heros
I love Tove Lo! I think her voice is so crazy amazing and this song is another really catchy tune!

So those are a few of the songs I've been loving during January! Let me know what songs you've been loving in the comments below, and check out some of my links too!
